Andrea Clarke

Journalist and communications professional

Andrea Clarke is an accomplished television news correspondent and communications professional with 15 years of experience in the international media arena. After a decade covering the Australia/Asia region for Channel Ten, Andrea moved to Washington, DC in 2004 to cover major news events for Reuters, Al Jazeera English and Australia's Seven Network, including the 2004 presidential election, Hurricane Katrina and the 2008 presidential campaign. Andrea then used her media credentials to establish the media relations strategy for International Relief and Development, one of the largest aid groups in the United States, working specifically on programs in Iraq and Afghanistan.

In 2009, Andrea was hired to serve as Senior Communications Director for the Save Darfur Coalition, the largest grassroots advocacy movement in the world, where she leads efforts to coordinate media coverage, partnerships and organizational branding to support campaign objectives. Among other initiatives, Andrea was recently behind an unprecedented outreach event between the US Department of State and the Sudan advocacy movement. In a live, online broadcast from the White House, the US Special Envoy to Sudan answered questions from activists about the Obama Administration's strategy to bring peace to the region.

Andrea is a graduate of Deakin University with an MA in International Strategic Studies.
