Amaranto del Toro

Certified translator and Federal tax law specialist

Amaranto del Toro has a Certificate of Proficiency in Translation from Georgetown University’s School of Languages and Linguistics, Division of Interpretation.  He has a Magna Cum Laude degree in Business Administration from the University of Puerto Rico in Río Piedras.

He was a Senior Bilingual Tax Law Specialist at the US Internal Revenue Service (IRS), which entailed interpreting the tax law in English to translate it into Spanish to ensure that taxpayers received accurate information and instructions to comply with the Internal Revenue laws.  He analyzed highly technical and complex matters in English and Spanish for incorporation into tax forms, publications, training materials, Public Service Announcements for radio and television, as well as IRS’ annual television shows.

He was an IRS spokesperson during 20 years, participating on IRS’ Spanish television programs “Ya llegó la hora” and “Los Impuestos y Usted” aired by Univision and Telemundo.  He was also a guest on local and national television and radio programs. 

In addition to tax issues, Amaranto del Toro has translated texts and documents in many different fields and specialties, in both Spanish and English.
